This session will provide an overview of the Georgia Tech North Avenue Apartments project in Atlanta, Georgia which is pursuing LEED certification through the US Green Building Council. The project consists of a 2,000 student-500 apartment complex and two parking garages on eight acres. The project is nearing the end of the performance period, completing its commissioning, and installing a cistern system with storm water harvesting and treatment for irrigation. The student apartments were built as a part of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and are now operated by Georgia Tech. Eighteen projects were implemented to improve the building’s performance and complete repairs and upgrades for optimum operational efficiency and comfort for the students. This presentation will provide an overview of various components of the project, resulting surveys, graphics and other information relating to the project and LEED certification process. |
